The library boasts excellent facilities and it serves as a place for quiet reading, group collaboration, individual research and recreational reading. It is an essential component of the institute's outstanding research and education mission. It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. This modern central library is associated with more than one lakh documents consisting of technical books, reports, standards and back volumes of journals. For ease of use, each department has its own library. Apart from the central library, state-of-the-art digital library is inaugurated to benefit the students immensely. The Library transactions are carried out by Bar code Technology. It has facility of Web OPAC-online search, so the library catalogue can be accessed through intranet, in future through internet. And the library has subscribed to online Journal and E-resources. Government College of Technology is registered as a NDLI Club under National Digital Library of India. Self-Learning Facilities
The GCT Library provides extensive self-learning facilities to support independent study, exam preparation, and skill development:
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): Students can use the OPAC system to locate books, check availability, see the number of copies, identify authors, and access references for their academic work. It helps plan research efficiently and saves time.
Reference Section: Rare and valuable books are preserved in the reference section, accessible to students and faculty for advanced learning and research. It encourages in-depth study of specialized topics.
Digital Library: Students utilize the digital library for exam preparation and access to online courses, including NPTEL and SWAYAM courses, as well as subject-specific lecture videos. It enables self-paced learning and expands knowledge beyond textbooks.
Reprography Services: Students can print old question papers, rare books, and other study materials, while costly or reference books are available for photocopying (Xerox) under controlled conditions. This ensures key resources are available without damaging originals.
Career Guidance: The library provides books and materials related to career development, communicative skills, and English proficiency, helping students improve employability and prepare for competitive exams.
Magazines and newspapers help students stay updated with the latest news, trends, and general knowledge. Reading them regularly improves awareness, language skills, and thinking ability.

There are many newspapers available for students, such as Dina Thanthi, Dina Malar, Dinamani, Dinakaran, The Hindu (Tamil), The Hindu, Times of India, The New Indian Express, and The Economic Times. These newspapers help students learn about current events and gain useful knowledge.
